Trash to Treasure
Exploring sustainability and consumerism through the transformation of everyday waste into fashion. The project features a model wearing a handmade dress constructed from bin bags, challenging traditional ideas of luxury, value, and beauty within the fashion industry. Inspired by the Dirty Looks exhibition, the work highlights the creative potential of recycled materials while questioning the influence of high-end fashion consumption.Photographed using high-key lighting against a dramatic grey backdrop, the images create a striking contrast between glamour and decay. Elegant poses and fashion-inspired styling are juxtaposed with unconventional materials and intentionally smudged makeup, reinforcing the project's “dirty fashion” aesthetic. Through this contrast, Trash to Treasure blurs the boundary between waste and luxury, encouraging viewers to reconsider society’s relationship with fashion, consumption, and sustainability.
