Life On The Streets (2023)
Life on the streets was to investigate homelessness and to try to capture the individual experiences of those who living on the street without secure housing. One thing Gracie wanted to challenge was the way in which homeless people are often seen in a stereotypical way, as simply a social problem with no sense of the individual turn of events that led them to where they are. As well as wanting to photograph those she met as portraits (and not simply sitting or
sleeping in doorways), This work is accompanied by their stories, and combine image and sound in a way that would return their individuality and restore their dignity. During the project, she heard a wide variety of accounts that have led to homelessness and learned of the many challenges facing people made vulnerable by insecure housing.
